Our People
Hope Archer
Financial Accounts Manager – Central Finance
I joined 2 Sisters in 2013 as a temp in Accounts Payable after I graduated from University. It was only supposed to last two months, I’ve now been with the business for seven years! I have held various roles across SSC and Group Finance including: Financial Accounts assistant, Group Reporting assistant accountant and Central management accountant. I also spent 18 months at Fox’s Biscuits as Batley site management accountant. Our department process the bank reconciliations and postings and we liaise with sites around recharges. We work closely with all the Group functions to help ensure they hit their budget targets for the year. The business is fast paced and there is usually a lot going on, it can be challenging hitting our deadlines. It is constantly changing and improving which is exciting. I find the challenging aspects the most enjoyable as no two days are the same and there is plenty to get involved with. Everybody I’ve worked with really cares about the business’ success and we all get stuck in as a team!
Melissa Boulby
Accounts Receivables Manager
I joined 2 Sisters in 2012 and have held various roles, Credit Controller, Senior Credit Controller and AR Team Leader working for a number of our divisions. Accounts Receivable are responsible for the collection of all debt owed on the sales ledger, the main contributor to our cash flow. It’s a challenging role juggling the demands from each division. I enjoy the fast pace of my role and working with all my colleagues, no two days are ever the same which keeps the role interesting. 2 Sisters offers great career opportunities!
Amy Davies
Supplier Auditor
I have recently re-joined 2 Sisters as a Supplier Auditor. My role is to audit ingredients, food contact packaging, storage and distribution suppliers as well as people providers, so a wide variety. This is to ensure food safety is not compromised and it is produced safely & legally as well as to protect the 2SFG brand. I have worked in the food industry for over 20 years and have had various roles in NPD, Process, Technical and Compliance. I have worked with various different food categories including chilled sandwiches, dips and sandwich fillers, chilled and frozen ready meals, cakes, chilled raw sausages and bacon, Ready To Eat sliced hams and sausages. I spent a number of years in New Zealand in manufacturing and auditing BRC (V7) mainly apples, kiwi fruit as well as regulatory audits for various different food categories. In my career to date I have covered mainly chilled High Care/High Risk products.
Laura Ford
Agriculture Account Assistant
I first joined 2 Sisters back in the summer of 2016 for my University industrial placement within the Group Agriculture team. I worked with the company for 15 months prior to returning to finish my final year at Harper Adams University studying a BSC (hons) in Agriculture and Animal Sciences. After completing my degree in July 2019 I returned to 2 Sisters. My role varies day to day working with both customers and on our farms, to bridge the gap between farm and factory. I play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction, reporting outcome measures, driving improvements across the farm base, organising and conducting farm audits and carrying out traceability tasks. Agriculture is a small but significant player in the day to day running of 2 Sisters Poultry operation and being part of it means I have access to numerous opportunities. Our team aims to be the best in our sector with regards to the production of sustainable, quality livestock, grown to the highest welfare standards which our customers and consumers expect. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our standards even further through data and science-based decision making to drive animal welfare standards within the industry through our business and partnerships with our suppliers and customers. The poultry industry has a lot to be proud of but there are many challenges to overcome each day, as there is with all livestock farming when dealing with live animals. The outbreak of disease, antibiotic resistance, ensuring sustainable agriculture and maintaining consumer confidence are a few examples of the many challenges 2 Sisters are pressured to overcome in both the current situation and the strategic future of the industry. I enjoy being a valued member of the team and I have been given the opportunity to learn and take on responsibility early into my working career. Each day is different and there is always something new to learn and a new challenge to overcome.
Gary Fountaine
Group Technical – Supplier Auditor
I joined 2 Sisters in July 2020 as a Supplier Auditor during the first lockdown and worked from home for the first year carrying out remote supplier audits. Since the lockdowns have eased, I have managed to get back out on the road carrying out supplier audits, food safety investigations and providing support to the suppliers when required. What I enjoy about my role is that I get to see lots of different factories and people all over the UK and Europe. The different categories that I cover include high care and low care food factories, ambient manufacturing, storage and distribution services and food contact packaging companies. Everyday is different and the challenges that can pose is part of the attraction of the role, it is fast paced, and I need to be flexible to meet the business requirements (an auditor always has their passport ready!) I work with a great team, who have a breadth of knowledge and experience and that is great support to me in role.
Rebecca Haigh
Legal Assistant
I joined the company over 15 years ago to work in the HR department at our sandwich factory. It was initially a two-week admin role but luck prevailed and I was offered a full time permanent role as an HR Assistant. After two years I transferred into the legal team as Legal Department Secretary and Company Secretarial Administrator. In the 2 Sisters Legal team I work with five solicitors. As legal assistant my role is to ensure that the team can work effectively and efficiently by being organised and ensuring all systems and processes are up to date. My job is varied, I deal with invoicing, county court claims, pre action notices, vendor set up (including review of terms and conditions and consultancy agreements), company secretarial matters (filings with Companies House), intellectual property and project work. The Legal department are a vital part of the group to ensure that 2 Sisters works within the law. We assist on agreeing contracts with customer and suppliers, deal with any subsequent disputes, and register any new brands and concepts. The business is fast paced and we are all currently working from home due to COVID, therefore it is a challenge to ensure the team are in regular contact with each other, that we know what each member of the team is dealing with and to ensure that everything is being dealt with efficiently. There is never a dull day at 2 Sisters! There is always something different to do or a new challenge each week.
Kay Rebbeck
IT Business Systems Director
2 Sisters IT department is continually evolving and I’m based in our Shared Service Centre in Wakefield. My role is to identify technology opportunities to solve business problems within the Group. We deliver solutions to all areas of the business ensuring they have the right systems so people can do their jobs to the best of their abilities – we call it agility for ability! Recently we sourced and installed a package and label verification solution across several sites to ensure we achieve the highest standards in the industry. We are also looking to the future by creating an in-house digital team to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology within the food business. The pace of change in consumer behaviour means that we need to futureproof systems to give us a competitive advantage through the years to come. One of the biggest challenges we face within IT is the sheer volume of work we have across the Group, due to the speed of our growth through acquisition. We are now executing a programme of work to consolidate our systems to build a modern platform for the future of our business, whilst ensuring we support the day-to-day operations of our current footprint. I really enjoy playing a part in the business’ plans for growth, helping to design the future IT systems roadmap. My role is very diverse and enables me to work across all functions within our divisions across the full range of our products.
Cara Taylor
Transactional Services Manager- Shared Service Centre
I originally joined the business as a temp, went travelling, came back and I’ve been here since 2008! I’ve worked in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Accounts, Ops Finance and Group Finance in a variety of roles. My department contributes to the working capital of the business, whether chasing down funds via Accounts Receivable or paying suppliers via Accounts Payable. It’s been challenging dealing with the impact COVID has had on the Shared Service Centre and the move to working from home. This has had an impact on our ways of working and we’ve had to introduce new processes especially around communication. I really enjoy how varied my role is on a day to day basis, I have gained a wealth of knowledge over the past 14 years from working in the different departments and using the different ERP (IT) systems. My colleagues have also played a big part in the enjoyment of my role.
