The Bakery division produces pies and puddings! It includes the brands Holland’s Pies and McDougalls Pies in its portfolio. The division supplies all major retailers with Holland’s Pies also selling product via fish and chip shops and sports stadiums including Manchester City FC and Manchester United FC. The Bakery Division employs 500 colleagues in the UK and Ireland

Holland’s Pies

Holland's Pies can trace its history back to 1851 when John Whittaker started a confectionary shop in Haslingden and employed Richard Holland. In 1869, Richard was married to John's daughter Sarah and they took over the family business re-naming it Holland’s. In 1907 Baxenden became the home of Holland's Pies and the current bakery since 1936. With over 165 years’ worth of pie making knowledge, we have developed new products including sharing pies and a vegan range so that everyone can enjoy our pies! The site itself now has over 260 colleagues, runs more than five production lines, making nearly one million pies per week. As a well-known brand in the North West, Holland’s Pies runs a Friday Pieday on their Twitter page which allows the general public to win free pies – what’s not to love about free pie.


Portumna pastry is passionate about producing great tasting pies and pastries for everyone to enjoy. Our product range includes individual pies with delicious fillings, family and sharing pies, wellingtons, bakes, pastry slices, parcels and pasties, crumbles and quiches. We are infamous for our sausage rolls, being the largest producer across Ireland and the UK, making our own sausage meat. Based in the heart of Portumna Co. Galway since 1987 we are an integral part of the local economy and proud to support Love Irish Foods.
