Mary Clark was awarded a Distinguished Service Award at the British Poultry Council annual awards for her important long-term contribution to the poultry sector.

The 2 Sisters Food Group primary production manager was invited to the House of Commons reception to receive this prestigious award from the Minister of State for Agriculture, George Eustice.

Mary has been at Foxhill’s since the factory was built in 1988 and started in the poultry business in 1970 with Sainsbury Spiller before joining Thorne Poultry.

Dan Whillock, general manager at 2 Sisters Scunthorpe said: "The team at Scunthorpe was delighted that Mary was recognised for her dedication and commitment to poultry.

“This award recognises the hard work that Mary has invested in the business and her colleagues during the past four decades.

“Mary is one of life’s unsung heroes and is a most deserving person for this coveted award. She is respected by her colleagues for her knowledge, professionalism and humour that she brings to the job each and every day.

Nic Dakin, Scunthorpe MP, said: “Mary is a fine example of the fantastic group of people doing great work locally. I was delighted to see the poultry sector recognise the distinguished services of Mary who, it has to be said, is a tremendous credit to Scunthorpe and 2 Sisters."
