Food Manufacture Personality of the Year award

4 November 2016

Janette Graham has won the coveted Personality of the Year Award at The Food Manufacture Excellence Awards in London.

The 2 Sisters Food Group learning and development manager was chosen by her industry colleagues and peers for her pioneering work in developing the government’s new Trailblazer apprenticeship programme for the food and drink sector.

Graham won the award after beating off stiff competition from five other leading food industry figures, including the Food Standards Agency’s National Food Crime Unit head of food crime Andy Morling and Food and Drink Federation director general, Ian Wright.

Nigel Perry, group people and change director at 2 Sisters said: "Janette has been at the forefront of driving forward this exciting, new initiative that will provide our food and drink industry with the skilled workers we need for the future.

“Developing our colleagues to the highest industry standard is key to the success of our business. Janette’s award demonstrates how passionate and committed both she, and 2 Sisters Food Group are, to attract and retain the much-needed new talent to our industry.

“It also acknowledges the huge effort invested by Janette, the steering group and the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink in developing these new apprenticeship standards.

Janette Graham, group technical learning and development manager at 2 Sisters, said: “I have enjoyed chairing two of the steering groups but to win this award was a real shock and surprise.

“The new apprenticeships have given us a great opportunity to professionalise our industry and upskill new and existing staff. This will ultimately improve levels of food safety and quality which is ultimately a good thing for consumers.
